www.meta.com/device – Activate Meta Headset

Hello. Congratulations on your Meta headset. This guide will walk you through getting it ready to use. We will go slowly step by step. Do not rush.

Before we start here is the main idea:

Think of your Meta headset like a TV. To make it work you need to connect it to the internet and sign in with a Meta account. The special website address you need for the step is www.meta.com/device. Keep that in mind.

Part 1: Getting Everything Ready

Lets gather what you need first like gathering ingredients before baking a cake.

You will need:

  • Your Meta headset, the goggles.
  • The charger that came in the box. Plug it in now so it has plenty of power.
  • Your smartphone, the phone you carry with you.
  • Your Wi-Fi password, the code for your home internet. You might have it written down somewhere.

Part 2: Getting Your Phone Ready

The Meta headset uses your phone like a control to help with the setup.

1: Open the App Store

  1. Unlock your smartphone.
  2. Open the App Store. Play Store.
  • If you have an iPhone look for the icon with an A made of popsicle sticks. It is called the App Store.
  • If you have another type of phone like a Samsung or Google phone look for the triangle icon. It is called the Google Play Store.

2: Install the Meta Quest App

  • In the search bar carefully type: Meta Quest.
  • Look for the result that just says Meta Quest and has a and-white icon.
  • Tap. Get next to it. This puts an app on your phone.
  • Wait for it to finish installing. Then find the Meta Quest icon on your phones home screen and open it.

3: Turning on the Meta Headset

  • Put the Meta headset on your head. Adjust the straps so they feel snug but comfortable like a pair of sunglasses.
  • Find the power button. It is on the side of the Meta headset. Press it once. Let go. You should see the lights come on inside.
  • Look inside the Meta headset. You will see a screen asking you to get your phone ready.

Part 4: Connecting the Meta Headset to Your Phone

Think of this like introducing two friends so they can talk to each other.

  1. On your phone the Meta Quest app you just installed will say it is Searching for your Meta headset. Be patient.
  2. Inside your Meta headset you will see a 5-digit number appear. It might look like this: 3 4 1 8 9.
  3. On your phone a screen will pop up asking you to enter that 5-digit number. Type it in carefully.
  4. Good job. Your phone and Meta headset are now connected.
  5. The app will now ask you to connect your Meta headset to your Wi-Fi. Select your home Wi-Fi network from the list on your phone then enter your password. This connects your Meta headset to the internet.

Part 5: The Important Step – Using the Special Website

This is the key step. The Meta headset needs to know who you are so it asks you to log in to your Meta account. This is where www.meta.com/device comes in.

  1. Inside your Meta headset or on your phone it will now tell you to visit a website to confirm your account.
  2. On your phone or computer open the internet browser. That is the app you use to go on the internet or Google things. It might be an icon called Safari, Chrome or Internet.
  3. At the top of the browser there is a white bar. You need to type this address exactly as you see it: (www.meta.com/device) Type it slowly. It is meta like the company then dot com, then slash device.
  4. Press. Enter on your phones keyboard. The page will load.

Part 6: The Final Step – Drawing Your Safe Space

  1. Put your Meta headset on. You should now see a message saying the setup is almost complete.
  2. The Meta headset will now ask you to set up your Guardian. This is an important safety feature.
  3. It will ask you to look down at the floor and then use the controller to draw a line around the area where you want to play.
  4. Stand in the middle of your room clear of any chairs, tables or lamps. Using the controller trace a circle or rectangle on the floor. This tells the Meta headset This is my zone.
  5. If you ever get too close to the edge while using the Meta headset a virtual fence will appear, warning you to step so you do not bump into anything.

The website will not load:

  •  Check that your phone or computer is connected to the internet.
  • Try typing the address very slowly: www.meta.com/device.

You forgot your password:

  • On the www.meta.com/device login screen look for the words Forgot Password.

The 5-digit code disappeared inside the Meta headset:
